FIFTY SHADES OF FRAMES
With so many different colors of frames to choose from, it can be hard to know what looks best on you. Just like our frame options, not all faces are the same either making the decision even harder. We want to help you find the frames that will best compliment your face and make it shine even more!
First, we have to decide if you are warmer or cooler in tone. While every face is unique and perfectly you, some faces and hair have more of a warmer color, while others have a cooler or darker color. Here are several different factors that can help you decide which category you fall under.
Skin: Your coloring could give off either a warm or cool tone that gives your face the definition of color. Regardless of the actual color, if you have more blue or pink undertones in your skin, that classifies your skin tone as cool. However, peach or yellow undertones classifies your skin tone as warm.
Eyes: All eyes give off different shades of color. Even if you would say your eyes are brown, they may be more of a honey brown or a dark, almost black brown. Take a look in the mirror or ask a friend to help decide if your eye color is warm or cool/dark.
Hair: Hair color is a little more obvious to determine. If your hair color is strawberry blonde, platinum, blue-black, white, auburn, salt-and-pepper or ashy brown, you can classify as a cool tone. If your hair color is golden blonde, brownish black, brownish gold or a dirty gray, you can classify as a warm tone.
Now that you know if you’re warmer or cooler in tone, let’s pick some frame colors!
For cool tones, you want to stick to frames that are black, silver or gray, brown, blue, plum, magenta, jade green, and darker tortoise. In general, darker is better for cool tones.
For warm tones, you want to stick to frames that are light tan, gold, copper, peach, orange, coral, red, off white, light blue, and lighter tortoise. In general, you want to gravitate towards frames that are lighter in color.
