GLASSES TRENDS OF 2021
Hello, 2021! We are now well on our way into this new year, and we at Spectacle have noticed some trends that we think are here to stay this year. We wanted to highlight the biggest three trends we’ve noticed as well as some honorable mentions that we are seeing creep up in the rankings as well.
CLEAR AND TRANSLUCENT FRAMES
Crystal clear frames made their debut a few years ago. While the super clear style is still doing well, we’ve noticed that translucent frames in light hues are really having a moment. Patients are especially gravitating toward the light blush pink translucent and light gray or green translucent colors! We also really love a good blue translucent frame too. We’ve noticed that age has no restriction on this trend as our kiddos are loving our Jonas Paul frames with translucent hues as well!
Vintage round
The round shape is always a crowd favorite in sunglasses, but now more than ever, we are seeing a surge in round frames for regular glasses as well. We’ve noticed especially the round, vintage looking, metal frames are really shining already in 2021. We also love a great round frame in plastic with a vintage nod in either the color or accent details. We have found some patients are a little hesitant of pulling off such a round shape, but you never know just how much it really does work until you try them on!
TRENDY TORTOISE SHELL
One color trend that has always done well for both women and men throughout the years is the tortoise shell. We are seeing a lot of patients gravitating toward this classic color again but in more unique and trendy shapes and styles. It keeps your glasses classic, with a little funky mixed in! These are some of our favorite, fun styles for more of a statement look.
Honorable mentions
There are some trends that are either up and coming or still going strong that we wanted to mention as well. The oversized look is not for everyone, but we do see women requesting the classic black frame but in oversized sizes more and more. We think this one might be a huge hit in years to come. We also see the cat-eye look still going strong across all our brands and in all colors. The clubmaster style that surged in the 50s is still a classic look that we see over and over again. While the retro aviator style of the 80s disappeared for a little bit, we’ve noticed it more on the rise these days again.
We hope these trends helped to point you in the direction of your next pair of glasses. Regardless if these are styles that you can’t get enough of or maybe not for you, we know our patients are always top notch in style. You never know when you may be wearing the next biggest trend in eyewear!
