Girls, have you ever wondered what you should be doing with your makeup when wearing your glasses to make those eyes pop? Earlier this month, we teamed up with Bianca from Planet Beauty and Jessica from Shades by Shan to provide a makeup demonstration to a handful of patients. It was such a fun evening of chatting, snacks, shopping, and amazing makeup tips for when we wear our glasses! We learned so many things we never even thought about taking into consideration when wearing our glasses, and we wanted to share some of those great tips with all of you as well!

Did you know that if you are very farsighted, your glasses may magnify your eyes (and eyelashes!) when wearing them? If that’s you, be sure to use a lash lengthening mascara to help those eyelashes look their best under your glasses. If you need to use your glasses to see up close and have a hard time putting on makeup, an illuminated magnifying mirror will soon become your best friend! Seriously, go get one now and it’ll be a game changer.

Another tip we found especially interesting was when Bianca told us not to be afraid of a little shimmer in your makeup! If using shimmer in your eyeshadow, it helps your eye to pop under the reflection of your glasses, especially if you use it as a highlighter under your brow bone. If you use a shimmer or illuminating concealer under your eyes, it may also help to take away that under eye shadow and darkness too. She also pointed out that some of us can get those pesky nose spots from the weight of our glasses. Your glasses nose pads can leave a red mark and take away all your makeup in that area. Not good! To avoid this, don’t cake on the makeup even more. Instead, set your foundation with a translucent powder, especially in that area. You can also use a primer before applying your makeup to help keep it in place even longer.

We loved the Shades by Shan color palette that Jessica showed us! She used the plum color at the base of the eyelashes and to frame the corner of the eyelid to help the eyes stand out even more. For a night out look, add the shadow just under to lower lashes as well. We also had a chance to feel the texture of the eyeshadows ourselves, and it felt so smooth!! You can only imagine how light and comfortable it feels on the eyes. At the end of the day, no caked on, heavy eyelids… yes, please!

Finally, they touched on all thing eyebrows. We never really thought much about our eyebrows since we’re usually so focused on our eyes and eyeshadows, but they had some excellent tips! Be sure to stay away from dark brows when you’re wearing your glasses. Not only do darker, deeper brows tend to age you, but your glasses are already framing your face, especially if you have darker glasses. Go for the more neutral look by implementing a softer tone and not as thick of a brow shape.

We had such a blast with these girls and could not believe how much we didn’t know about makeup we should be wearing with glasses! If you enjoyed all these tips and want to experience a Gorgeous In Glasses event for yourself, keep an eye out on our instagram for the next event announcement coming this summer!
